LIVE CONCERT. KRISTAPS VANADZIN?Š. JAZZ TRIO. THE LOVE GARDEN HAS OVERGROWN

Concert series PERSONALLY

 SKATIES TIEŠRAIDI ŠEIT

On the day of all lovers, when Americans send millions of postcards, Italians gift each other sweets, the Japanese compete for the loudest professions of love, and the French dedicate love letters to each other, we invite you to give the most precious gifts of all to your loved ones – time spent together. On the night of February 14, a romantic jazz music concert will be streamed live from the concert hall Great Amber in Liepāja, and Kristaps Vanadziņš Trio will perform a program from their upcoming album, The Love Garden Has Overgrown.

The message behind the Trio’s new program has to do with the grand magical events of life – love, rules of the universe, and the love of God above all. They are original pieces by Kristaps Vanadziņš, created over several years. The LP record of the new concert program, The Love Garden Has Overgrown, will be released under the independent jazz and improvised music record Jersika Records and presented in the spring of 2021.

“The joy of living is energy that you can create yourself. I believe music should excite people and bring them joy. That is my approach to art – bringing joy!”

/Pianist and composer Kristaps Vanadziņš/

“The music performed by Kristaps Vanadziņš Trio merges several genres, and their compositions present unusual harmonic solutions and creative novelty.”

/Edgars Raginskis, culture journalist and reviewer/

Kristaps Vanadziņš Trio includes some of the brightest representatives of modern Latvian jazz music – composer and pianist Kristaps Vanadziņš, percussionist Rūdolfs Dankfelds, and contrabassist Jānis Rubiks. Three fundamental pillars of the musicians’ philosophy are unity, composition and creation, and these are the basis of the ensemble’s individuality and common idea. The Trio are known for their clear and nuanced sound along with traditional methods of harmonizing (swing, afro-influence) and New World inspirations (rubato, academic and Scandinavian music). Their music displays creole, African, and voodoo influences mixed with European impressionism, Scandinavian sounds and traditional music as well as inspirations of the musicians’ origins.

As with all concerts of the series Personally, the night will also feature the artists’ stories of inspiration for creating their work as well as their lives in music.
