Leģendu mūzikas festivāls: TOMAS ANDERSS, “ALPHAVILLE”, “LONDON BEAT” un “OTTAWAN”

Legends Music Festival: Thomas Anders, “Alphaville”, “London Beat” and “Ottawan”

On 22 July 2023, 4 legends – Thomas Anders of “Modern Talking”, “Ottawan”, “London Beat” and “Alphaville” – will perform in the Legends Summer Music Festival which will take place on the Lake Kilučiai peninsula in Biržai district, just 100 kilometres from Riga!

On 22 July 2023, the German singer Thomas Anders from the legendary band “Modern Talking”, who even impressed Indian Bollywood with the smash hit “D.I.S.C.O.”, the French band from “Ottawan”, the British-American band “London Beat”, famous for the smash hits “I’ve Been Thinking About You” and “You Bring on the Sun”, and who had no idea that their ballad would be heard not only in every corner of the world, but also in advertisements of banks and insurance companies, would become the soundtrack of dozens of famous films and TV series, and would be covered or used in the works of Laura Branigan, Karel Gott, “One Direction”, Jay-Z and one more world music star – the “forever young and immortal” Germans – “Alphaville”, will be learning the strange-sounding word “Kilučiai”!

Legendary “Modern Talking” hits will be played in Kilučiai

Another star of the “Biržiečių žodis” Summer Music Festival is Bernd Weidung, known around the world as Thomas Anders from one of the most successful bands in the history of pop music “Modern Talking”!

After winning the Luxembourg radio song contest in 1979, Thomas Anders soon recorded his single “Judy” and met Dieter Bohlen, who made CC Catch famous, during a concert tour.

With “Modern Talking”, Thomas has released numerous songs that have reached the top five in dozens of countries around the world, and the smash hit “You’re My Heart, You’re my Soul” stayed at the top of the charts for half a year in 81 countries!

And now, in all parts of the world, the much-anticipated singer has sold more than 125 million copies of albums, counting group and solo recordings, and has received more than 420 platinum and gold awards!

In 1989, Thomas released his first solo album “Different”, launched a successful solo career, followed by concerts with the revived “Modern Talking”, and also collaborated with “T-Seven” (soloist of “Mr. President”), “No Angels”, Marta Sanchez, Isabel Varell and many others.

French, British, American

Patrick Jean Baptiste, the singer of a French disco duo, joined “Air France” while working for a well-known company in Paris, formed the band “Black Underground” and played in the bars of the French capital. Here, Daniel Vangarde, a manager who was working with Dalila, “Sheila & B. Devotion” and others, approached him and asked him to take part in a disco music project with the dancer and vocalist Annette Eltice.

And from the Canadian capital Ottawa (the band’s name “Ottawan” comes from the capital of Canada), the first recorded single “D.I.S.C.O.” has already shaken Europe and the lyrics of the next hit “Hands up, baby, hands up...” make you want to go back to the parties of the eighties.

The career of British-American band “London Beat” began in 1990 when they signed with Dave Stewart, renowned producer and leader of the legendary duo “Eurythmics”.

After their first success in the Netherlands, the band soon conquered the world with the smash hit “I’ve Been Thinking About You”. The song reached number 2 in the European Singles Chart and number 1 in the US, while the band’s other singles “You Bring On The Sun”, “A Better Love”, “Come Back” and a cover of Bob Marley’s classic “No Woman No Cry” did not disappoint music lovers.

Forever young and immortal

“We’ve been playing and have been popular for decades, so we feel immortal,” said the members of “Alphaville”, a legendary pop music band.

The band’s ballad “Forever Young” instantly shot them to the top of the pop charts. But the German electronic music band were not a one-hit wonder. “Big in Japan”, “Jerusalem”, “Sounds Like a Melody”, “Flame”, “Dance With Me” and many other singles of “Alphaville” have topped the charts in Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, the UK, and even Argentina, Japan and other countries, as well as in the USA’s prestigious magazine “Billboard”. It’s as if the band who did more than 20 word tours is travelling back in time, and each time they start anew, they continue their story of immortality.
