*

The first part of the concert will include the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Brahms, which is a magnificent composition full of restrained passion and symphonic scale and whose romantic movements and power make it just perfect for the hands, heart and mind of the pianist Reinis Zariņš.

Vida Miknevičiūtė is popular in Latvia and her performance in Liepāja will be just short before her debut at the Salzburg Festival. We will witness Vida becoming Verdi’s Amelia (“Simon Boccanegra”) and Elisabeth (“Don Carlos"), Puccini’s Tosca and Musette (“La bohème”), and the programme will end in the queenly Elisabeth’s performance from Wagner’s opera “Tannhäuser”. And, of course, the orchestra’s signature in the overture from Verdi’s “Sicilian Vespers”, Puccini’s bittersweet “Crisantemi” and the popular introduction to the III act of Wagner’s “Lohengrin”.

On the conductor’s podium: the well-known Atvars Lakstīgala, whose talent is most expressed in the emotional turns of the Romanticism music.

Supported by: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, State Cultural Capital Fund and the city of Liepaja.

The extended stage is used, therefore, in reality row 5 is row 1
