INDEPENDENCE DAY CONCERT. 102 YEARS OF LATVIA

On the night before the national holiday, Concert hall Great Amber and Liepāja Symphony Orchestra invite their listeners to be present and celebrate at the already traditional concert in honor of the birthday of Latvia!

The 102nd anniversary celebration will mark the first time that the audience of the Liepāja concert hall will be able to experience the skillful performance of the internationally acclaimed conductor Ainārs Rubiķis. Rubiķis has designed his first meeting with listeners in Liepāja by curating an especially uplifting, festive and patriotic program for this concert, mixing Latvian folklore and ethnic tones with gems of Romanticism created by grands of Latvian symphony music. “The creation of the program was mainly prompted by how rarely I am at home, in Layvia. The longer I am away from my country, the more I wish to return to its roots,” admits the artistic director and conductor of the concert, Ainārs Rubiķis.

The program features works by: Ādolfs Skulte, Pēteris Barisons, Romualds Kalsons, Jānis Mediņš, Mārtiņš Brauns, Imants Kalniņš.
