Jānis Ivanovs, new works by composition workshop participants

The festival opens with music by symphonic master Jānis Ivanovs from the Latgale region and young, talented composers from various countries.

The LNSO Summer Festival 2019 begins with a workshop for young composers writing new works for a chamber ensemble. Workshop teachers are composers Andris Dzenītis and Anders Nordentoft. Ensemble leader and conductor is Jānis Stafeckis, part-time double bass player in Riga and conductor of Latgale's Rēzekne Chamber Orchestra.

On 23 August the workshop ensemble will perform compositions by young authors, and Rēzekne Chamber Orchestra will play Jānis Ivanovs' mysterious, magnificent mystery for strings Poema luttuoso under Jānis Stafeckis' baton.
