Three young, talented and striking Latvian musicians that have also mastered their skills outside their origin country have met in the outstandingly creative contemporary Jazz trio Auziņš - Čudars - Arutyunyan. The name of the trio brings together Kārlis Auziņš whose saxophone performance, improvisation and jazz language has been influenced by the Danish jazz school, the guitarist and composer Matīss Čudars who has built his jazz foundations and guitar performance in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and percussionist Ivars Arutjunjans who is currently based in Paris and is the most sought-after jazz percussionist in the Baltics.

Last year, the trio released their fist album Baltic, in which alongside original compositions an important and significant role has been given to improvisation as well. Improvisation is also the most important keyword describing the trio’s new programme with the musicians heading on a historic journey and searching for points of intersection between contemporary jazz and the music of the medieval French composer Guillaume de Machaut
