The LNSO New Year’s Eve concerts will burn with flames of passion in powerful Cuban rhythms, brilliant piano solos, lively voices of youth, and symphonic delight. You will hear Borodin’s untamed Polovtsian Dances; Beethoven’s anniversary year will conclude with a version of his Turkish March by the romantic pianist superstar Liszt, and the programme will culminate with Gershwin’s cheerful dedication to Cuban rumba, born in the Congolese jungle, a fresh rhapsody, and his story about Porgy and Bess’s tempestuous love. Led by the LNSO’s Chief Conductor Andris Poga, the programme welcomes two special guests: unmatched Latvian pianist Vestards Šimkus, and renowned American singer Adina Aaron, who has sung the roles of Aida, Tosca, and Lady Macbeth in operas across the world and is known for her deep, rich, incredibly supple voice, and her fascinating, alluring performances of Gershwin.
