Beethoven, Old Riga, Linos – indeed, no meeting or voyage is impossible in music. The thespian Kagel sends his best anniversary wishes to Beethoven, whose quintet was, in turn, inspired by Mozart. Šmite’s composition takes us for a walk through Old Riga, where we can hear the sounds of Trokšņu Street, whereas Jolivet’s Mediterranean cruise takes us to the island of Linos, the home of only a few hundred people. Françaix encounters shepherds, and the LNSO’s Wind Quintet together with Agnese Egliņa bring it all together. To make things more interesting, one of the performers will have learned the basics of percussion, but only the concert will reveal which one of them will display their new skills.
