Charm of Western Europe Baroque

Ensemble Paper Kite (Germany)
Programme: Philipp Heinrich Erlebach, Henry Purcell, William Hayes, Nicolas Bernier, Giovanni Legrenzi , Alessandro Scarlatti, Jean-Marie Leclair

With its roots in Germany, Spain, and Italy, the ensemble Paper Kite is comprised of five early music specialists who have perfected their craft in esteemed European universities. By joyfully dusting off masterpieces of past centuries and paying special attention to the nuanced intricacies of the baroque cantata, these musicians have charmed both the public in various concerts and early music festivals, and judges in several competitions. The kite travels through the ages and twists of history, and it will visit the Rundāle Palace with the vocal-instrumental Baroque music of Western Europe. Next to the sonic lacing of the German baroque artist Philipp Heinrich Erlebach, stand the opuses of his peers – the Roman-schooled Nicolas Bernier and the forefather of the Neapolitan style Alessandro Scarlatti, and other jewels of composers from the 17th and 18th century.
