Two years ago LNSO violinist Raimonds Melderis delved into the world of tango with a group of like-minded people and created a programme. This is the sequel. All take turns to play the solo, and they are truly enthusiastic about tango, except that they play instead of dancing. Side by side with tango classic Piazzolla, there is Mendizábal, the pioneer of tango, his half-forgotten colleague Data, our Argentinian contemporary Nisinman, and another contemporary, Kārlis Lācis, with a new work for accordion, string quartet and double bass, based on the music that he once composed for the Moscow Pushkin Theatre for the production Shakespeare in Love.
