Vakars ar Astoru Pjacollu

The music of Astor Piazzolla is filled with anguish and temperament, through it streams intricate sensuality and mighty energy, it is charged with turmoil and touching emotion. The name of the Argentinian composer seems undividable from tango, some call him the king of tango and name him El Gran Astor – the Great Astor, and many see him as the reformer of tango and the founder of the nuevo tango. His works fundamentally changed traditional tango, revealing it in a modern light and enriching it with elements of jazz and classical music. Piazzolla also earned fame as an outstanding bandoneon player, and the special sound of the instrument is deeply interwoven with tango. An evening with Astor is a special programme that will bring together on one stage the cellist Marks Viļenskis, accordionist Savva Zihs and double bassist Andris Veinbergs, performing the familiar works of the master in a fresh timbral combination.
