LNSO SUMMER FESTIVAL 2018. THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS. PRODUCTION FOR CHILDREN

Music – Edgars MĀKENS
Cast – Mārtiņš BRŪVERIS, Valdis VANAGS
Director – Ģirts ŠOLIS
Set design – Reinis PĒTERSONS
LNSO Willow Band, leader Guntis KUZMA

The production is based on Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows, the story of the peaceable Mole, his friend Ratty, who enjoys relaxing on the waters, the wealthy, spoiled Mr. Toad, and wise hermit Mr. Badger. The animals’ adventures are recounted by actors with ample experience in children’s productions, accompanied by a sprightly score, performed by the LNSO Willow Band wearing weasel ears.

LNSO SUMMER FESTIVAL 2018

This classic music festival for family and friends has now become a tradition and will be held for the fourth summer in a row. This year, held from August 24th to 26th, it has changed its location and moved to the Embassy of Latgale GORS. “The LNSO Holiday House” will offer a wide and colorful program laid out with a musical program by four geniuses presented in two outstanding evening concerts, two musical productions for children and teens, as well as workshops and games.

LNSO Director Indra Lūkina: “The initial idea of the festival has always been for it to be held outside the capital and to be closer to the audience of the regional Latvian concert halls. The previous three years “LNSO Holiday House” has been presented in Cesis, however, this year it has headed to the very heart of Latgale – Rezekne. We wish to provide an outstanding experience of classical music to the audience of Latgale, and for the audience of Riga and other regions, an opportunity to explore this excellent Latgalian acoustic pearl – the Embassy of Latgale GORS. We wish this to be a different conclusion to the summer for the families and friends of the festival.”

Before the concerts, during the intermissions, and after the concert program, GORS roof terrace is open for refreshing and peaceful moments to be spent while enjoying the views of Rezekne.
