RIGA ROOM SESSIONS: IRIS BERGCRANTZ QUINTET /SWE/

When you thought you've heard everything - young vocalist and composer Iris Bergcrantz (SE) brings the vocal jazz music to another dimension. Iris’ music is disarming, filling the listener with wonder as her beautiful voice travels between life and the fantastic. On May 6, in one of the Riga Room sessions we will be able to experience the magic of her and the whole Iris Bergcrantz Quintet - the mother of Iris, pianist Anna-Lena Laurin (SE), drummer Johan Kolsut (SE), Iris' fiance, contrabass player Ander Fjedsted (DK) and the father of Iris - trumpetist Anders Bergcrantz (SE). The family has been playing together for Iris's entire life, all of them being masterful jazz musicians.

Iris started her vocal career in one of her mother's choirs when she was only 4. Since then she has participated in many recordings, her debut album receiving the award "#1Vocal Album of the year at the world wide "The 38th Annual Jazz Station Awards / The Best Jazz of 2016". Her mother, Anna-Lena, is an acclaimed pianist and composer in Sweden, and alongside her, the father of Iris - Ander Fjedsted is considered to be one of the top trumpet players in the world today and has performed with many international artists, toured concert halls and jazz clubs all over the world.

The Quintet has worked together and played at different festivals and clubs in Sweden,
Germany, Denmark and in pipeline both Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia are upcoming as well as a US premiere at The International Jazz Festival in Rochester.
