Kristīne Prauliņa and the Riga Gospel Choir

The talented jazz singer Kristīne Prauliņa and the Riga Gospel Choir has prepared a new concert program. The audience will be able to enjoy both the cheerful African-American gospel music in English and Latvian and several new songs composed by the choir conductor and soloist Kristīne Prauliņa, written especially for the Riga Gospel Choir.

The program will be loud with freedom and vigor, warm rhythms, a vivid blend of singers' and instruments' tones, and glory. The concert will feature works of modern authors such as Kirk Franklin and Donald Lawrence, and gospel arrangements of classics like “Total Praise”, “Ved mani, Dievs”, and “Matthew 28”.

The Riga Gospel Choir is the two-time Gold Medal winner at the World Choir Games. The conductor and soloist of the choir is the acclaimed jazz singer, winner of the Grand Prix at the International Jazz Artists Contest “Riga Jazz Stage” Kristīne Prauliņa. The choir was established in 2003, and they tour both in Latvia and abroad. The choir has gained success at gospel music festivals in Europe and the United States and taken part in various local and international projects with many popular performers – they have sung in the “Skārda bungu tūre” tour with Brainstorm, given concerts with Grammy award-winning composer, composer and singer Donald Lawrence from the USA and conductor Karen Gibson from the UK, among others.

The Riga Gospel Band consists of musicians renowned both in Latvia and abroad Toms Mikāls (keyboard), Reinis Ozoliņš (bass), Jānis Kalniņš (guitar) un Miķelis Vīte (drums).
