Born in Malaysia, raised in Perth, Western Australia, Linda Oh started playing piano and bassoon at an early age, while at the age of fifteen, she got carried away with the electric bass, playing jazz in various high-school bands. Linda studied at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), which she graduated with excellence.

She has thrived in her career as a musician, receiving countless awards and scholarships, including the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award and Bell Award as the New Artist of the Year.
After acquiring her master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in 2008, she became a teacher and still continues to share her knowledge with young students by speaking at various jazz-themed video conference master classes at US high-schools, as well as participating in innovative projects, such as the creation of a series of lectures for the next iPad and iPhone BassGuru app.

She continues to develop her creativity by composing music for various ensembles and short-films, as well as participating in international film-composer workshops. One of Linda’s masterpieces is the music she composed for the movie “A Good Egg” by Sabrina McCormick, which was presented at the New York Short Film Festival.

Music is a big part of Linda’s life, and she is not wasting her time. Aside from the previously mentioned projects, Linda has recorded several albums. Already with her first debut album "Entry" in 2009, she introduced herself with a blast, ending up in the Artforum magazine as one of the top 10 albums for the American jazz musician Vijay Iyer.

After several other albums, her latest - the 2017 release of "Walk Against Wind" - received the approval of critics and was featured on the 2017 NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll. This album also featured Matthew Stevens with his virtuoso guitar play, which you will be able to enjoy on the Dzintari Concert Hall stage together with Linda Oh!
