Riga Jurmala Music Festival also offers a Weekend Pass that includes tickets to all of the concerts happening in that weekend with additional activities and cultural experiences between each concert. Each subscription includes the tickets (with fixed seating) offered by the festival for all concerts in a particular week. Additionally, concert guests will be invited to enjoy a glass of champagne in the special guest area during the event, as well as special intermission sessions with the artists. Ticket price: 150 EUR (basic ticket category) and 350 EUR (premium ticket category).

Pianist Lukas Geniušas solo concert

The daytime concerts of the RĪGA JŪRMALA Music Festival invite new talent from the classical music world who, after victories in prestigious competitions, are now active performers on the world’s leading stages.

Pianist and silver medal winner of the Tchaikovsky and Chopin competitions, Lukas Geniušas continues the Russian piano tradition at the highest level. “Geniušas plays with a prizewinner’s brilliance, yet with a mature ability to recreate a work’s architecture, and an expressiveness that doesn’t overtly draw attention to itself,” writes British newspaper The Guardian.

Violin virtuoso Julian Rachlin and Rudolf Buchbinder will perform together for the first time in Latvia. Their repertoire will include chamber music classics, combining their joint musical abilityand imagination to find new, individual and exciting detail in even the most well-known pieces.

Rudolf Buchbinder’s ability to make music come alive, inhabiting each phrase, is truly unique. He has set new standards in the performing arts, especially as an interpreter of the music of Beethoven. He is not afraid to admit that Beethoven’s music continues to move him to tears. Julian Rachlin’s individual style is characterised by excitement and the ability to inspire the audience. He plays a 1704 ex-Liebig Stradivarius violin.

Pianist Martin James Bartlett solo concert

Pianist Martin James Bartlett (1996) admits that his life changed completely when he won the title of BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2014 - victory in this competition allowed him to embark on a professional performing career, giving him the chance to travel and meet and work with inspiring musicians. The sensitivity or even sensuality of his playing is breathtaking, and his imagination overflows.

Bartlett played at the National Service of Thanksgiving for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral, and as part of the Chinese State Visit in 2015 he gave a private concert for the First Lady of China, Peng Liyuan. He loves jazz and has recorded with Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Nicola Benedetti, and in his Riga concert he will perform piano highlights from the 17th to 20th centuries.

The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, led by its principal conductor Mariss Jansons and joined by legendary p[ianist Rudolf Buchbinder, will perform some of the finest examples of symphonic classical music. Known for their expressivity, audiences have the chance to experience an unrivalled quality of orchestral playing. Jansons, himself, explains, “For me as a conductor it’s like driving a Rolls-Royce. This orchestra can, quite simply, do everything.”
