Jūrmala Jazz. Justin Kauflin Trio

Performers: Justin Kauflin Trio

American pianist Justin Kauflin, the blind jazz virtuoso, is a unique talent and a strong personality, who has been praised by the biggest jazz legends. "The New York Times" wrote: "Kauflin's strengths are his skill of touch, a desire to explore harmonious depths and a romantic hunger to experiment in relation to the repertoire. He can take one motive from “A Day in the Life” by The Beatles and create a whole swing concert!"
The artist began his career as a pianist at the age of 15, and has been highly praised since then - currently the young musician is one of the most demanded jazz pianists, as proven by the "2012 Jazz Artist of the Year" award by VEER Magazine, the victory in the 2012 VSA International Young Soloists Competition, as well as his good results in the prestigious “Thelonious Monk” competition and the performance at the UNESCO International Jazz Day in Paris in 2015. Jazz legend Clark Terry played a special role in his professional growth. The famous trumpeter described Justin as: "A beast on the piano! And one of the most wonderful people I know.” The relationship between the young musician and his mentor is recorded in the documentary “Keep on keepin' on”, which has been awarded several times.
Kauflin has received awards from the most prestigious jazz festivals in America and signed a contract with the legendary producer Quincy Jones in 2011, who received a "GRAMMY" award for his lifetime contribution.
In his work, Kauflin seeks to combine jazz traditions with innovative searches. “His compositions radiate honesty and passion,” - says “RIVIVE MUSIC”, describing his work. Together with his trio, he will perform across the globe - their new album “Coming Home” debuted in September 2018.
