TELL ME (NO) TALES. HAMLET

HAMLET

Composers - Sergey Rachmaninov, Linda Leimane

Choreographer Antons Freimans

Sets and Costumes MAREUNROL'S

Inspired by the subtexts of Shakespeare’s tragedy "Hamlet", Antons Freimans stages his first full length ballet. In the production Freimans tackles man’s relationship to death, and challenges the audience with a portrayal of intergenerational dialogue – a dialogue between the past and the future. The score reflects this theme as it is presented as a conversation between an old master and a contemporary composer.

TELL ME (NO)TALES

Music by Jānis Šipkēvics, Matīss Čudars, Kaspars Kurdeko

Choreographer Elza Leimane

Set Designer Andris Freibergs

Costume Designer Madara Botmane

Having fallen in love with Imants Ziedonis’ "Colorful Tales" already in school, Elza Leimane uses the moving absurdity and painterly paradoxes of the tales as inspiration when looking at the colourful history of ballet.
