Arthurs HONEGGER Symphonie Liturgique
It might seem at first glance that listening to Honegger’s music is much more exciting than discussing his biography, but if we delve deeper, we uncover exciting stories about love, friendship, Bach, rugby, Bugatti, Montmartre and toy trains. Honegger’s Pacific 231 (1923) is dedicated to a powerful locomotive of his time with the wheels set on two, three, and a single axle. In his Symphonie Liturgique (1946), the composer ponders the relationship between the modern man and stupidity, cruelty, suffering, technocracy, and bureaucracy.
