The song "Non, je ne regrette rien" took the world by storm, and "No, I don't regret anything" was the life motto of its performer, the legendary Édith Piaf. This petite, fragile woman possessed a powerful voice, with which she told stories of love, loss, passion and the Parisian life. The exceptionally emotional singer, the unrivalled legend of the chanson genre, was often called the sparrow of Paris, and to the French she remains as the national pride and treasure of their country.

Mauro Bigonzetti's choreography is all about humour, sensuality, athleticism and beauty. His language of movement is lively and creates powerful images. Choreographer repeatedly honours important personalities through his work – such productions include "Mahler", "WAM" (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), "Omaggio a Bach" and "Caravaggio". M. Bigonzetti created "La Piaf" for the ballet company of the Hanover State Opera in 2010.
