Love legends from Ilzenbergas
A first open-air concert in the park of Ilzenbergas Manor amidst its beautiful gardens will present the most popular rock ballads and love songs. The international project "Love Legends from Ilzenbergas" will feature the band "Colt" (Latvia) whose founder, guitar player and song writer Harijs Zariņš will share the stage with the Lithuanian star performer Povilas Meškėla.
A joint music project to mark commonness of two countries
The idea of the project is to bring onto one stage performers from the two bordering countries on the border site. Love is the main topic of the concert. "Love cuts across cultural prejudices, nationalities and borders", says Povilas Meškėla. His colleague Harijs adds that "music opens up a unique way to rediscover the two Baltic nations". This year marks a significant milestone in the history of both countries—a centenary of restoration of the two independent states, which adds another challenge and honour to the performers. As Povilas Meškėla put it, "the significant historical anniversary could be approached through music which has always been the unifying factor because it reaches out to every single heart".
The founder of "Colt" Harijs Zariņš and Povilas Meškėla have long been thinking of a joint project which by the lucky turn of fate will now take place in the gardens of Ilzenbergas. Both performers hope this initiative to become a traditional event and platform for cultural exchanges in the future. "Hopefully, we will become prophets and ambassadors of love legends at Ilzenbergas", says Povilas.
The concert will include not only popular rock ballads and hits but also introduce several newly released songs. The unique idea of the project is to perform popular Latvian hits in Lithuanian, which will be done by Povilas Meškėla accompanied by "Colt" whereas Atis Ieviņš, the soloist of "Colt", and Meškėla's band will perform in Latvian several well-known Lithuanian songs.
The performers

The band "Colt" made its name back in 2011 when its first album won the best album nomination in the rock music category in Latvia. The group played as a warm-up band during the concert tours of such bands as "Whitesnake", "ZZ Top", "Nazareth" and others. At Ilzenbergas, they will perform popular Latvian hits ("Eņģeļi raudās", "Tu un ES", " Rozā lietus" etc.).
Povilas Meškėla, the founder and soloist of the band " Rojaus tūzai", is one of the well-known professional performers in Lithuania. He has been on stage in the company of such legendary bands as "Def Leppard", "Electric Light Orchestra", Zakk Wylde and "Black Label Society" etc. At the Ilzenbergas event he will present his well-known hits ("Aš tave surasiu", "Dar ne vakaras", "Drugys") and songs from his new repertoire.
The music project "Love Legends from Ilzenbergas" will take place in the gardens of Ilzengergas Manor on 19 August 2018. The concert starts at 18 o‘clock. Duration: 2 hours.
