Folklore Day BUILD TALL DOORS FOR THE BRIDE

The XXVI Latvian Song and XVI Dance Celebration will fill Riga with music from 30 June to 8 July. One of the brightest accents of the celebration that attract the attention of many interested persons is the peculiarity of Latvian folklore.  This time, the visitors of The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia will be offered a unique opportunity to see the real Latgalian wedding. Two young people (Zanda and Kristaps) will be married according to old traditions, with bridesmaids, capping ceremony, “gypsies”, wedding tables and wedding dances. Also in other homesteads of the Museum (Kurzeme, Vidzme and Zemgale) will sound wedding songs and will be showed wedding rituals of various regions.

All events of the Folklore Day “Build Tall Doors for the Bride” are included in the Museum entrance ticket.
