A truly timeless love story – the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. The death of the young beauty Eurydice on her wedding day and her lover Orpheus's journey through the underworld to reunite with her never ceases to inspire. As interpreted by the contemporary playwright Sarah Ruhl, the story focuses on Eurydice. In the underworld, she not only loses her beloved but also her language and identity. This presents both a challenge and abundant opportunities for the creators of the production to engage the audience with new forms of expression. Poet Jānis Elsbergs has not only translated but also masterfully adapted the dramatic text, and the creative team has found the perfect choreographic score rooted in the aesthetic principles of physical theater. This unique combination of artistic means of expression has resulted in a captivating work that will lure you in, enchant you, and won't let you go long after the experience – not unlike love itself.
