While Johann Sebastian Bach is, without any doubt, the absolute genius of the rich and talented Bach family, also several sons of the great master deserve special attention. The programme of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and the conductor Guntis Kuzma includes music by two of Bach’s sons. One is the promulgator of the ideas of Sturm und Drang movement, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and the other is Johann Christian Bach, who had great impression on the growth of the young Mozart. The world-known Latvian violinist Kristine Balanas will perform solo in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, but the bright clarinettist Ints Dālderis will shine in the Clarinet Concerto No. 2 by the star of the early Romanticism, Carl Maria von Weber.
