LIVE CONCERT. HARP VIRTUOSOS. JOEL VON LERBER AND DĀRTA TISENKOPFA

Concert series Personally

The concert series Personally at concert hall Great Amber is continued by a live concert dedicated to Mother’s Day. The celebration program will shed reveal and introduce listeners to a rare, delicate, ancient yet contemporary musical instrument – the harp.

In the concert program, the internationally-acclaimed Berlin-based Swiss harpist Joel von Lerber will play a solo program and introduce the audience to the lively, timbre-rich musical instrument and a virtuoso repertoire for the harp. Latvian harpist Dārta Tisenkopfa will be a special guest at the concert.

The concert will be opened by works for the harp composed by Henriette Renié, Nino Rota, and Guillaume Connesson, followed by the opportunity for listeners to hear works by famous composers, such as Franz Liszt and Bedřich Smetana, arranged for the harp. One of Joel’s most prominent interpretations, which listeners of the Liepāja concert will also hear, is a fantasy on a theme from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin by harpist Ekaterina Walter-Kühne. Thanks to the special sound created by the harp, this moving piece gains intensity and depth. At the conclusion of the program, Joel will be joined on stage by harpist Dārta Tisenkopfa to perform the iconic “Grand Duo” by Welsh composer, professor and master harpist John Thomas.

“In Lerber’s hands, the harp sounds truly dreamy, and his forceful touch creates a brilliant and charming gamma of timbre at the same time.”
