Lukas GENIUŠAS – piano

Conductor Kristīna POSKA

Programme:

  • Liisa HIRSCH Threshold
  • Pyotr TCHAIKOVSKY Piano Concerto No. 1
  • Jean SIBELIUS Symphony No. 2

Tchaikovsky’s majestic stature and emotional ambit is on display in his Piano Concerto No. 1, whose opening is an iconic example of how broad romantic music can be. Let’s find out how it will sound in the joint concert of Baltic musicians in the hands of Lukas Geniušas – a young, but mature and renowned pianist. Uncharacteristically of Finns, who are typically introverted, Sibelius has stated that his Second is the confession of his soul, while some critics have called it Finland’s independence symphony, having noticed an echo of the great Beethoven. Estonian composer Hirsch brings you into the realm of northern music slowly, but steadily – you might resist at first, but you will not want to let go.
