TRANSFORMERS. FROM REICH TO RADIOHEAD

The concert is based on the idea of change and transformation – how does the 21st century change the musician, music and the listener? Is there any substantiation to talks of 21st century music? (Musicologist Jānis Torgāns would say provocatively and thought-provokingly – no, because the music of the 21st century is just a reflection of the idioms of the past century.) Some others would say yes. And what do we mean by the word ‘composer’? According to some, sound creators of the band Radiohead, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, are among composers of the 21st century or at least the genius musicians of the century. Along with them, the concert will feature works of 20th and 21st century contemporary music composers Steve Reich, Louis Andriessen, Julia Wolfe, François Sarhan, Moritz Eggert, Vicki Ray and Pierre Jodlowski – a rather dazzling company united by music of a high standard. It will be perfomed by the skillful pianist of avant-garde music Juris Žvikovs and percussionists, members of the quarter Perpetuum Ritmico, Elvijs Endelis and Mikus Bāliņš. The program has been created specifically for the Liepāja Art Forum, and we will hear its premiere at the festival.

• Persons with group I and II disabilities and their companions – 50%;

• Family tickets: 1 or 2 adults + 2 (or more) children – 25% (available only at ticket offices);

• Group tickets: 10-30 persons – 20%, 30 and more persons – 25%.
