Inese Galante and Daumants Liepiņš. Viva Latvija. Live-stream

The Great Amber invites you to the first concert within the new project Viva Latvija by the Inese Galante Foundation, which will feature the owner of the unique soprano, opera singer Inese Galante, and the rising star of pianism Daumants Liepiņš. They will be joined by laureates of Inese Galante’s talent competition, who have already made bright world debuts – soloist of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, tenor Artjoms Safronovs, and the young baritone Daniils Kuzmins.

In the concert, we will hear beloved classics – masterful solos and charming duets interwoven by love and tenderness. As a cherry on top of this celebratory cake will be Giulio Caccini’s famous piece “Ave Maria” in Inese Galante’s unparalleled performance, which touches and speaks to each listener.

Project Viva Latvija started with a vast creative movement on social media which the world-famous opera singer Inese Galante started in May to support the Latvian society. Together with pianist Andrejs Osokins and Dutch saxophone player Henk van Twillert, she recorded a video performance of Giulio Caccini’s “Ave Maria”. After it was published, Inese’s friends joined the movement – Latvian and foreign performers, musicians and other creative personalities, who posted videos with messages and performances on their social network profiles with the hashtags #VivaLatvija and #VivaLatvijaIneseGalante.

“I am very happy with this opportunity to support the Latvian society, to inspire my audiences, to give them strength and bring them joy with performances online during this time when we have limited opportunities to meet “in real life”. Let us support each other with kind words, share our creative work, our good mood and inspiration!” – this is the invitation of Inese Galante.

The well-known and beloved Latvian singer Inese Galante is introduced to concert halls of the world as one of the most admired and unique owners of a soprano voice. Her velvety timbre has been forged in an incredibly wide range – from dazzling coloratures and deeply powerful shades of dramatic soprano, to gently stilled and barely audible pianos of the upper registers. The singer was born in Rīga and has graduated from the Latvian Academy of Music. Already in her student years, Galante became a soloist at the Latvian National Opera, and she has since gained world-wide recognition by performing at prestigious opera houses and concert halls in Germany, Sweden, Finland, and other countries. Her popularity is evidenced by her album ratings and international awards, as well as the high praise from foreign critics. The singer has received an Order of the Three Stars, and she is a laureate of the Latvian Grand Music Award.

Twenty-four year old Daumants Liepiņš is one of the most promising pianists of the Latvian young generation. The musician continues his studies in Sweden, dazzles the juries of prestigious contests, and leaves no one who has been lucky enough to hear him play indifferent. He started learning the piano at the age of 5 and today is the winner of many international piano competitions. He has won the prestigious Vendome Prize for Piano (2019), receiving not only a public ovation and recognition from the jury, but also the opportunity to debut with a solo concert at the famous Verbier Festival in Switzerland and to publish a record on the Steinway Record Label. In Latvia, in 2017, he received the Great Music Award in the category Young Artist of the Year. In March 2019 he also became the laureate of the “Maria Canals” International Piano Competition in Barcelona, and in 2018 – the 2nd prize winner of the George Enescu International Piano Competition. An extraordinary talent – a subtle and sensitive chamber musician, who is also aware of a charismatic soloist’s stance in teamwork with the orchestra. His piano play is technically flawless, and his interpretations – convincing in their content and emotionally filled.
