The creative collaboration of the exceptional Latvian Radio Big Band, the French legend of jazz, composer and saxophonist Pierre Bertrand, and a team of international musicians has culminated in the release of a new music album, Paris 19-29. The Liepāja concert hall will have a magnificent final concert of the summer season with the world premiere of this French jazz music album!

Pierre Bertrand is a composer, saxophone and flute player and professor of composition whose creative work includes numerous original pieces and arrangements for various types of ensembles, as well as film scores and music for the theater. In 2017, his album JOY, released under the prestigious record company Cristal Records – Sony Music, was awarded the greatest accolade in the country, Victoire du Jazz, in the category “Best Record of the Year”. The same award had been received earlier together with the Paris Jazz Big Band – Victoire du Jazz: “Prix Franck Ténot” and “Django d'Or”.

Pierre Bertrand, together Latvian Radio Big Band and soloists, have recorded the new album Paris 19-29, in Paris. It will be performed live at the album presentation concert at the Great Amber by a full ensemble of artists. Alongside Bertrand and the Big Band, the stage will welcome the young and brilliant French singer Paloma Pradal – a multi-faceted artist who uses her work to combine the languages of chanson and flamenco, hip-hop, electronica and world music. They will be joined by the talented French accordionist Christophe Lampidecchia and Argentinian drummer and percussionist Minino Garay.

The tones of the concert program will carry the concert hall audience to the narrow streets of Montmartre and let them experience the bohemian spirit of Paris. Joy and opulence will be brought onto the pedestal of life! The 1920s are the years of Josephine Baker, Art Deco and Coco Chanel, and we will have the opportunity to experience them once again through the music created by Bertrand and the Big Band.
