LE BOURGEOIS GENTILHOMME

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will bring a palace-worthy program to Rundāle Palace, which will have both antique grace and aristocratic serenity and energetic vivacity and opulent orchestral colors.

The role of the soloist and conductor of the concert will be taken by Gregor Witt – one of the most demanded musicians in Germany. He works in many directions, being an excellent oboist as well as a conductor and a teacher. Since 1993, he is the concertmaster of the oboe group at the Staatskaepelle Berlin – one of the oldest orchestras in the world, led by Daniel Barenboim.

The concert will feature music by composers of three different eras. Late baroque will be represented by an oboe concerto by the German composer and multi-instrumentalist Telemann, Mozart’s serenade for brass instruments will bring a breeze of classicism, and Strauss’s suite Le Bourgeois gentilhomme will top off the concert with the colorfulness characteristic of this Romantic composer.
