The Chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga and the Riga Saxophone quartet concert night will offer a sonic cocktail with a fresh and sparkling taste which mixes both classically beloved delights and completely unknown ingredients.

The American minimalist John Adams’s chamber symphony No 2 will excite the lovers of rhythmically pulsating music. Pēteris Butāns’s Festivāla Mūzika (Festival Music) will be a continuation of the careless atmosphere of his Brīvdienu Mūzika (Holiday Music), which will be seamlessly followed by the University of Vienna classical saxophone docent Christian Maurer from Austria. His baritone sax will be accompanied by a string orchestra, percussionist Artis Orubs and the bass master Edvīns Ozols– they’ll perform the romantic suite Focus by the beloved American sax virtuoso Stan Getz, arranged in this case by the masterful Eddie Sauter. But the undiscovered surprise of the evening – Concert for Saxophone and Orchestra – was created by the skilled experimenter Platons Buravickis who has entrusted the performance of his piece to the winner of the Saxophonia 2017 competition – Aigars Raumanis
