Lio Kuokman is known for his striking talent – he is the laureate of the renowned Svetlanov competition (Paris, 2014), assistant conductor of the Philadelphia SO, music director of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble – a passionate and skilled young talent with a brilliant career in opera and symphony music. In Riga we will hear his rendition of Schumann’s Third, or the Rhine symphony, written after an inspiring voyage across the majestic Rheinland together with his beloved Clara. The programme also includes Chopin’s Piano Concerto in F minor, whose slow movement takes us to a realm of infinite tenderness. Solo by outstanding Chopin performer, audience’s favourite pianist Georgijs Osokins.
