Our captivating storyteller Goran Gora introduces George Gerswin – a composer of brilliant melodies that surpassed their author in fame! Case in point, Rhapsody in Blue was written in just three weeks, because Gershwin learned about the upcoming performance of the work from an advertisement in a newspaper, even before he had started composing it. The piano part will be performed by award-winning Daumants Liepiņš, and all signs point to his further success. Liepiņš has shown great prowess at classical and romantic genres, and he is ripe to explore more freedom. The LNSO will also perform tunes from Porgy and Bess, the best-known one being the lullaby Summertime
