The conclusion of the Ancient Music Festival will once again by the violin concerto circle The Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi – one of the most popular examples of classical music in history, with countless recordings and interpretations all around the world. The cycle of four violin concertos was first released in 1725 in a compendium titled “A Competition Between Harmony and Imagination.” It is true that the music does not lack harmony or imagination, because Vivaldi was very happy to find scenes from nature and everyday lives, adding a verbal decoding of these in the score. The temperament and juicy colours of the composition allow interpreters to engage in a lot of fantasy, but this also requires brilliant performance technique and vital musicality. This time the opus will be performed by the Sinfonietta Rīga chamber orchestra, conducted this time by the charismatic and multitalented Italian Christian Frattima. The star soloist will be Yury Revich, whose violin performances are full of youthful energy and mature emotionality.
