BALKANS IN ITALY. KLEZMERATA FIORENTINA

BALKANS IN ITALY. KLEZMERATA FIORENTINA

Among the admirers of Klezmerata Fiorentina (Italy) there are such grandees as Zubin Metha, Daniel Barenboim, Mstislav Rostropovich, Martha Argerich, Vladimir Spivakov and others. Due to their filigreed and temperamental playing, each performance of Klezmerata Fiorentina ends up with standing ovations.

„And I must say every time I hear them I don't know whether to laugh or cry because they play music to laugh and to cry. I recommend them wherever possible because it's not only good entertainment, it's great music-making.” – these are Zubin Metha's words.

Klezmerata Fiorentina is comprised of four principal players of a leading Italian symphony and opera Orchestra del Maggio Musicale: Igor Polesitsky (violin), Riccardo Crocilla (clarinet), Francesco Furlanich (accordion) and Riccardo Donati (double bass).

In 2005, well-known violinist Igor Polesitsky, whose biography at that time already included collaboration with Luciano Berio, Zubin Metha, Borodin Quartett and others classical and avant-garde music coryphées, formed the ensemble. From his family, Igor Polesitsky inherited traditions of Ukrainian-Jewish instrumental music, which have spread in the new ensemble oeuvre. It is hard to place their art in the frame of one particular style – it is an original symbiosis of Klezmer, Balkan and Italian music. Since the year of foundation, the ensemble has performed in the world’s best concert halls.

For the first time in Latvia, listeners have a chance to enjoy the art of Klezmerata Fiorentina, due to a recommendation of famous chamber orchestra Moscow Virtuosi, which brilliantly performed on the festival Summertime – Inessa Galante invites last year.
