The Baroque music ensemble Coin du Roi studies music directly from scores and plays it on authentic instruments, taking an in-depth look at the historical context of the opuses and seeking a bridge between traditions and innovations. Coin du Roi is the only private opera company in Italy that focuses on operas from before the age of Romanticism. The company brings light to a repertoire that has overshadowed the compositions of masters of Romanticist and belcanto music in the memories of Italians and others. This programme is dedicated to early operas, with elements from the ground-breaker in this genre, Monteverdi, his compatriot Vivaldi, and fragments from the scores composed by the French Rococo masters Lully and Rameau. There will be a particular focus on jewels from the opera music of Handle. Pre-Romanticism music specialists include not just the Coin du Roi musicians and their artistic director, the charismatic conduct Christian Frattima, as well as two vocalists who are the pride and joy of Latvian vocal art – Elīna Šimkus and Sergejs Jēgers, both of whom have received brilliant reviews from audiences and critics far beyond the borders of their motherland.
