Artemandoline Baroque ensemble

Programme:
Music by Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco, Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Vivaldi, Francesco Maria Veracini

At the end of the 17th century, colourful instrumental music flourished in the world of music.  The mandolin took on equal soloist importance along with flutes and various sizes of violins, offering a nuanced and expressive sound that was particularly popular among young noblewomen.  The mandolin was forgotten, but today it is undergoing a true renaissance.  The sonorous name of the Artemandoline Baroque ensemble for Italy only partly reveals the clarity of harmony and the fragile power that relates to the sounds of mandolins and guitars.  The mounter of Artemandoline, Juan Carlos Muñez, conducted a long search for original mandolin compositions from ancient and little known composers, and he has brought together the greatest virtuosos of mandolin and guitar performances from Italy and Spain.  Since 2001, the ensemble has offered audiences an endless set of surprises and creative impulses, bringing Italian Baroque music fully back to life.
